Recently, ASN launched an initiative to try to determine what skills, traits and experiences common to successful Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). The beauty about mankind is that we are all wired differently. ASN sought to determine what tangible or intangible things that most successful RBTs had in common. This is the first in a two part series sharing some of the results of our findings.
At ASN we wish to equip our teammates with the skills and training to be effective in delivering therapy, to be happy in their position and to grow personally and professionally.
A note from Human Resource Director, Mitchell Mandel
Dear Team,
I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who contributed to our recent survey and discussion about the traits, skills, and experiences that define successful RBTs. Your feedback and insights have been incredibly valuable, and I truly appreciate the time and thought each of you put into sharing your perspectives.
From the traits like compassion, honesty, and flexibility to key skills such as time management, play skills, and adaptability, your collective wisdom highlights the importance of being well-rounded and dedicated to growth. The emphasis on creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving further underlines how essential it is to approach every day with positivity and openness.
Many of you noted the common thread of personal experiences—whether having connections with individuals with autism or having worked in special education—and how those experiences fuel passion and success in this field. I also appreciated the examples of how successful RBTs plan ahead, seek feedback, and consistently strive to improve, which are qualities we can all aspire to emulate.
Your contributions are not just helpful, but they reflect the heart and commitment of this team. I am excited to apply these insights as we continue to support one another and provide the highest quality care to our clients.
Thank you once again for your participation and for making this such a thoughtful and enriching discussion.
Warm regards,
Mitchell Mandel
Human Resource Director
