Taking your child to a class: Pick a class that is age appropriate for your child. Call the owner/teacher of the class, introduce yourself and tell them about your child and your child’s needs. Most places are welcome children of all walks of life. Ask if you and your child can attend a trial class. Bring your child’s favorite reinforcer and praise good behavior.
It might take your child a while to get used to a new place, a new social situation or a class. Take it one step at a time. Plan ahead and help your child deal with new situations by making a picture/written schedule/outline of the new activity.
